Carmel Apple Cake

This is one of our favorite Autumn recipes.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsps soda
  • 1 1/2 tsps cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups apples unpeeled and grated

Carmel Sauce

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients and grated apples to creamed mixture and mix.
  • Bake in greased 9 x 13 pan for 45 minutes.
  • While cake is baking, combine caramel sauce ingredients in medium sauce pan. Heat on low 10 to 15 minutes, stirring often. Do not boil.
