Carmel Apple Cake

This is one of our favorite Autumn recipes.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsps soda
  • 1 1/2 tsps cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups apples unpeeled and grated
Carmel Sauce
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Method
 

  1. Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients and grated apples to creamed mixture and mix.
  2. Bake in greased 9 x 13 pan for 45 minutes.
  3. While cake is baking, combine caramel sauce ingredients in medium sauce pan. Heat on low 10 to 15 minutes, stirring often. Do not boil.
